This is the easiest case there is. A document issued in any German-speaking canton — Zurich, Bern, Basel, Lucerne, St. Gallen and the rest — is already in German and needs no translation whatsoever. Only documents from Geneva, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Jura or Ticino require one. If you have a choice of canton, and for civil status records you often do, choosing a German-speaking office removes an entire cost line.
German employers and universities are strict about the transcript accompanying a diploma, and about the criminal-record extract being recent. Neither is a rule of the Convention — it is German administrative practice, and arguing it from Switzerland does not work. Order the pair, and order the extract close to the date you will submit it.
