Order an apostille →Like every Swiss civil status record, a marriage certificate can be issued by any civil registry office in the country, and the apostille follows the canton of the issuing office rather than the place where you married. Foreign registries usually want the marriage certificate itself, not a family certificate — the two are different documents and only one will be accepted.
Neither leaves your hands: a notary establishes a certified true copy from your uploaded PDF or photo, and the apostille is affixed to that copy — included in the price. If a destination exceptionally insists on the apostilled original, tell us and we organise it by registered mail.
